The Kailash & Lake Manasarovar Yatra by Helicopter – Kathmandu is not just a journey but a deeply spiritual and transformative experience. It is an opportunity for pilgrims and adventurers alike to immerse themselves in the serenity of the Tibetan Plateau, witness the unparalleled beauty of Mount Kailash, and seek blessings from the sacred waters of Lake Mansarovar.

This exclusive tour is tailored for those who desire a shorter, more comfortable pilgrimage without compromising on the profound spiritual and cultural elements. Designed for individuals of all ages, especially the elderly or those with time constraints, the tour utilizes a combination of fixed-wing aircraft and charter helicopters for a swift and efficient travel experience.

Why Mount Kailash is Sacred

Mount Kailash, standing at 6,638 meters, is considered the center of the universe by multiple religions, including:

  • Hinduism: Believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati, Mount Kailash is the source of eternal power and wisdom.
  • Buddhism: Seen as the dwelling of Buddha Demchok, representing supreme bliss.
  • Jainism: Associated with spiritual liberation, as it is where the first Tirthankara, Rishabhanatha, attained nirvana.
  • Bon Religion: Revered as a sacred mountain of power and spirituality.

For devotees, circumambulating Mount Kailash (known as the Kora) is believed to absolve sins and pave the way to enlightenment. Although this yatra does not include the full circumambulation due to time constraints, the visit to the mountain and its surroundings offers immense spiritual fulfillment.

The Sacred Waters of Lake Mansarovar

Situated at an altitude of 4,590 meters, Lake Mansarovar is the highest freshwater lake in the world. The crystal-clear waters are regarded as a symbol of purity and are said to have healing properties. Bathing in the lake or even just touching its waters is believed to cleanse one’s soul and bring inner peace. The lake is surrounded by eight Gompas, each representing a different spiritual mandala, with the Thrugo monastery being the most significant site for spiritual cleansing.

A Seamless Journey

The journey begins in Kathmandu, followed by flights to Nepalgunj and Simikot. From Simikot, a charter helicopter takes you to Hilsa, where a short walk across the Hilsa Bridge leads to Chinese immigration. The route then proceeds with a scenic drive to Purang, passing through some of the most serene landscapes on the Tibetan Plateau. The culmination of the journey is at Lake Mansarovar, where pilgrims can perform rituals and admire the tranquility of the holy site.

Additional Destinations Around Kailash

In addition to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, the tour includes nearby attractions such as:

  • Raksas Tal: Known as the "Demon’s Lake," it represents the balance of nature and spiritual duality.
  • Guge Kingdom Ruins: An ancient Tibetan civilization site filled with historical significance.
  • Tirthapuri Gompa: A sacred monastery believed to be a place of blessings.
  • Purang: A charming town offering glimpses of Tibetan culture.
